Actor J.K. Simmons in video
A seven-minute-plus video features a host of celebrities—including Jack White, Alice Cooper, J.K. Simmons, Ted Nugent, Mitch Albom, Mickey Redmond, and Alan Trammell—congratulating former Tigers star Kirk Gibson on the official Oct. 6 opening of the Kirk Gibson Center for Parkinson's Wellness in Farmington Hills.
"Gibby, Jack White here," the video begins. "Man, I'm so happy about the Parkinson's center and that it's finally coming together. I've been hearing you talk about it for years. I know so much work has gone into this. Congratulations to you and to all the people who are going to benefit from it. Prayers to you all, and godspeed. Love you, Gibby."
Ten years ago, Gibson was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
The new center describes itself this way:
"We set out to create a unique space for those impacted by Parkinson’s and their Care Partners that is bright, cheerful, and welcoming. A world-class facility that people desire to visit – one that doesn’t have the look and feel of a hospital or medical center."
"The Center will be largely devoted to exercise and movement programming while maintaining ample community space to facilitate social interaction."
