Lots has changed since the pre-pandemic days when the Detroit Auto Show drew 700,000 to 800,000 people.
Some car giants didn't participate this year. Auto shows around the country seem less popular. Some are no longer around. Auto companies are also relying more on social media to unveil new cars.
That being said, the Detroit Auto Show organizers said 275,000 people attended this year's event over 11 days, reports the Detroit News. That compares to 774,000 visitors in 2019.
The estimated economic impact this year was $370 million. The Charity Preview attracted 7,000 people and raised $1.7 million for six children's charities.
The organizers expressed confidence that moving the event back to January was smart, according to the News. In 2022 and 2023, the event was held in September.
