Thomas H. Seabron Jr., a Cass Tech High School graduate who played for the University of Michigan football team from 1975-78, and went on to have a brief career in the NFL, died Thursday from an apparent heart attack at his West Bloomfield home. He was 67.

Seabron played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1979 to 1980 and St. Louis Cardinals from 1980-81.

"He was a real nice guy, very professional, hardworking," political commentator Adolph Mongo said Friday of Seabron, who worked as a financial planner.

Attorney Robert Brown, a good friend who now lives in Florida, says he was the student manager of the U-M football team when he the first met Seabron, who was a star player on the team.

"He was a very good player, a great athlete, smart, quick," Brown said. "In high school he was a three-sport guy. He played football, basketball and ran track."

Seabron went on to work for major investment banks as a finacial advisor and eventually ended up as a vice president and financial advisor with Morgan Stanley in Farmington Hills.

"He became a very very successful financial planner," Brown said. "He had a lot of big clients including athletes, and knew a lot of people in the community. He could relate to a lot of people on a lot of different levels. He was well known, well respected."

Brown said Seabron was a big booster of Cass Tech and U-M and regularly attended Wolverine football games.

Brown said he last saw him on Nov. 1 when they both attended the induction of Cass Tech and U-M football star Curtis Greer into the Univeristy of Michigan Hall of Honor in Ann Arbor. (See photo below)

Brown said he appeared to be in good health.

He said on Thursday, the day after Christmas, Seabron was home with family when he had a heart attack. He was taken to Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield where he passed.

Seabron was married to his high school sweetheart Kathryn and they have two adult chidlren, a son and a daughter.
