Three of Michigan's six Republican members of Congress voted Friday against expelling fellow GOP colleague George Santos. The final vote was 311-114 to expel, with two voting present.
Republican Reps. Tim Walberg, John Moolenaar and Bill Huizenza voted against ousting the controversial Santos from New York who faced an uphill battle after the House Ethics Committee produced a scathing ethics report.
Michigan GOP members who voted to kick Santos out of Congress included Lisa McLain, John James and Jack Bergman. All seven Michigan Democrats voted to expel.
Santos becomes only the sixth member of Congress to ever be expelled. Before Friday, he had survived two previous attempts to boot him from office.
The House Ethics Committee concluded there was overwhelming evidence that Santos had violated federal law by regularly using campaign funds for personal use including casino trips, botox and designer clothes.
Santos currently faces 23 felony counts.
